Remonstered!
We’re at T minus 6 months (yes, I’m watching the NASA Artemis feed right now), and it’s my pleasure to share with you the cover of my upcoming book, which—after some last-minute wrangling with the Gallery Books publishing office—will be titled Remonstered! The Monsters Know What They’re Doing. (Apparently, keeping the same title without pulling the original from print would have caused Amazon to designate it as an alternative format, like an audio or e-book version.) Like the covers of all my previous books, this one is illustrated by Lio Pressland, and I think it’s the best one yet.
When I write the art briefs for my books on monster tactics, I always have the depicted monster(s) putting my recommended tactics into practice. In this illustration, the rakshasa has just used its Baleful Command action on the player characters, causing the gnome barbarian, the tiefling bard and the goliath sorcerer, who all failed their saving throws, to be frightened and incapacitated. Now it’s using its Multiattack to make three consecutive Cursed Touch attacks against the dragonborn paladin, enough to relieve him of most if not all of his hit points. Our lad won’t be casting Bless on anybody today. Only the orc druid remains in full possession of his faculties.
Remonstered! The Monsters Know What They’re Doing will be available in bookstores on Oct. 6.
